Mike Ming
President and Founder, Ming Energy Partners LLC
C. Michael Ming is the president and founder of Ming Energy Partners LLC. He retired in 2018 as the vice president - executive liaison for marketing and technology for Baker Hughes, a GE Company. Formerly, Ming served as the original general manager of General Electric’s Global Research O&G Technology Center in Oklahoma City. He previously served as the Oklahoma Secretary of Energy under Gov. Mary Fallin; the president of the Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America (RPSEA); and as an independent natural gas producer as a managing member and principal of K. Stewart Energy Group and K. Stewart Petroleum Corp. He holds a Bachelor of Science with distinction in petroleum engineering and a Master of Science in engineering management, both from Stanford University, and is a registered professional engineer in Oklahoma. He is a Life Member of SPE and has been a member since 1979. He served as an SPE Distinguished Lecturer in 2011-2012.
At Stanford, Ming is an emeritus member and past chairman of the Petroleum Investments Committee and co-sponsored the MAP/Ming Visiting Professorship on Energy and the Environment. He currently teaches in the Executive MBA in Energy program at the University of Oklahoma. He also serves on the Central Oklahoma United Way board of directors, as chairman of the Oklahoma City Riversport board of directors, and on university industry advisory boards at Stanford, the University of Texas Bureau of Economic Geology, OU, and Tulsa. He authored the “Oklahoma First Energy Plan,” Oklahoma’s first formal energy plan in 2011. He is a frequent speaker on energy and energy systems across the United States and around the world. He also co-chaired the 2019 Oklahoma Academy Town Hall on energy, served on the MIT Future of Natural Gas Study, and as a strategic planning adviser to the U.S. Department of Energy.
