Jacob Sonsel
Director, Alvarez & Marsal
Jacob Sonsel is a director with Alvarez & Marsal, where his focus areas include strategy, operations, sustainability, ESG and energy transition. His recent engagements include helping an exploration and production company form its energy transition strategy, leading to the establishment of a carbon capture and sequestration business in the United States. Additionally, he has helped clients select carbon accounting and ESG reporting software platforms to streamline mandatory and voluntary reporting processes.
Prior to joining A&M, Sonsel was an operations manager with FMC Technologies managing wellhead, frac rental equipment and fluid control services product lines. His responsibilities included P&L management, strategy development and implementation, material and labor planning, and capital budgeting.
He began his career as a commissioned officer and CH-53E heavy transport helicopter pilot in the United States Marine Corps, where he completed three combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sonsel holds a Bachelor of Science in agribusiness from Texas A&M University and was in the fourth cohort of the EMBA in Energy program at the University of Oklahoma. Additionally, he has earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certificate from Villanova University and a Change Management Professional certification from Prosci.
