Eric Groves

Commercial Manager-Power, bp

Eric Groves is the commercial manager of bp's power trading and marketing team. He graduated from the University of Houston with a BBA in Accounting. After a quick stop with Arthur Andersen, he transitioned to energy trading, where his career spans 27 years, including Enron, TXU, RWE Americas, Entergy-Koch, Merrill Lynch and, for the past 16 years, bp's Trading and Shipping division. In the early part of his career, Groves managed teams of analysts within Commodity Risk whose responsibility was to manage derivative traders' positions and daily mark-to-market pnl. The latter part of his career has been spent primarily as a senior structurer until he moved into his current role in January 2021. Over these 27 years, Groves has had the opportunity to work in Crude and Refined Products, Natural Gas, Power, NGLs, and LNG. He has also had the opportunity to work in bp's London Canary Wharf offices for three years.
