Brian Moddelmog
Vice President of Strategic Origination

Brian Moddelmog is vice president of strategic origination for the wholesale marketing and trading operation of Calpine Corp. Calpine is a privately held integrated energy company based in Houston that owns approximately 26,000 MW of generation capacity, including natural gas, geothermal, solar and battery storage facilities. His current responsibilities include leading the origination team for Calpine’s East Region, focused on relationship management, business development and long-term structured products around new and existing assets in PJM, MISO, New York ISO and New England ISO.
Moddelmog joined Calpine in 2007 and has worked in various commercial roles with increasing leadership responsibilities throughout his career. As vice president of strategic origination, he has led cross-functional teams to expand Calpine’s cogeneration partnerships, develop new generation assets, and explore opportunities for decarbonization.
Moddelmog graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2002 with a BBA and received his MBA from the University of Tulsa in 2007. He serves on numerous boards and committees, including the North American Energy Markets Association Board of Directors and the Calpine Diversity and Inclusion Executive Advisory Committee.
Moddelmog has been married to Megan Moddelmog for 21 years. They have three children and enjoy watching their kids’ activities and traveling. He also enjoys being physically active and is an avid sports fan, passionately following all the Sooners’ athletic teams.
