Learn how value stream mapping is used to identify and remove waste to improve value.
A key focus of any Lean Six Sigma improvement is to identify and remove waste to improve the flow of value to the customer. Value stream mapping is an essential technique used to depict an at-a-glance view of the value stream. This map helps to analyze the various work streams, materials, and information flows to identify waste, such as delays, inefficiencies, and excess inventories. It can also be used to create a new value stream with Lean improvements applied. Upon completion of this course, participants will have an awareness of what a value stream map is, why value stream mapping is important, the steps for building a value stream map and how to analyze a value stream map. An in-class activity will provide an opportunity for participants to practice building and analyzing a value stream map.
