Entrepreneurs and small businesses are a significant source of new economy employment, wealth creation and placemaking in the United States.  From entrepreneurial ecosystems to innovation districts, urban, and rural regions are building effective models of entrepreneurial support which can be a part of the professional economic developer’s mission.  In this course you will learn about the characteristics of entrepreneurs and key resources/services they need to be successful. In addition, this course showcases best practices from throughout the United States offers both expert and peer learning from the field. 

This course meets the Entrepreneurship elective for ED practitioners wishing to pursue the IEDC’s CEcD certification.

The 2016 edition of the Entrepreneurial and Small Business Development Strategies Manual is required for this course. It can be purchased through OU EDI or IEDC Bookstore.
