We are pleased to announce that Dr. Miloš Savić, Ph.D. has been named Dean of the College of Professional and Continuing Studies.

Dean Savić has been a valued member of the OU faculty since 2013 as a professor in the David and Judi Proctor Department of Mathematics. A strong believer in the impact of undergraduate research opportunities, Dr. Savić also served as the Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity, which included being Co-Director of the First-Year Research Engagement Program (FYRE) in the Honors College among other programs. His contributions to scholarship have played a key role in effectively implementing active learning strategies in mathematics education – a key finding of a seven-year NSF-funded project involving more than 120 faculty at 26 institutions across the country, with Dr. Savić leading the OU team.

He has served on several boards, including the International Group of Mathematical Creativity and Giftedness. He has co-authored numerous articles, conference proposals, books and book chapters on mathematical creativity, undergraduate research and math pedagogy. Dr. Savić earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Ball State University and his master’s and doctorate degrees in mathematics from New Mexico State University.

“Throughout his career, Dr. Savić has been incredibly devoted to mentoring students and to championing undergraduate research. We are confident the PACS community will continue to thrive under his leadership,” said OU Norman Senior Vice President and Provost André-Denis G. Wright. Many thanks to Dean Savić for joining our team!
