Areas of Interest

Hydrogeology and water quality; Environmental geochemistry; Aquatic toxicology; Watershed hydrology; Contaminant transport and remediation

Research

My research areas of interest include hydrological and geochemical perspectives in heavy metal geochemistry, natural organic matter (NOM) characterization, watershed hydrology, and environmental toxicology. Much of my research occurs in watersheds with prevalent historic mining activities and their associated impact on water quality and aquatic health. My research in understanding the interaction between NOM and heavy metals has important implications on aquatic toxicity and eventually regulatory applications. Other areas of research include potential impacts of climate change on watersheds and water quality, passive treatment of acid mine drainage (AMD), and fate transport of contaminants in wetlands.
