Juanita M. Allison Scholarship

Juanita Allison

The Juanita M. Allison scholarship was established in 2021 to assist an incoming Honors student with demonstrated financial need.

Juanita M. Allison, born in 1923, graduated as valedictorian from a small rural Oklahoma high school. Due to financial hardship, Juanita was unable to realize her dream of attending college. She worked at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma, where she started as an entry-level warehouse worker. Over the course of her career, Juanita worked her way up the ranks, eventually becoming a budget analyst before retiring.

Juanita Allison's daughter, Evelyn M. Pursley, established this scholarship in honor of her mother. Ms. Pursley, herself earned both a bachelor's degree with Honors and a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma, as well as a Juris Doctor of Law from Duke University.

This scholarship is exclusive to incoming honors freshmen.
