Two OU Students Named Truman Finalists 


Juan Dills and Wesley Russell have been named finalists for the 2024 Truman Scholarship.

Established by Congress in 1975 as the living memorial to President Harry S. Truman and national monument to public service, the Truman Scholarship carries the legacy of our 33rd President by supporting and inspiring the next generation of public service leaders.

Juan Dills

A transfer student from Rose State College, Dills is a Social Work major who will pursue a Masters of Social Work upon graduation. After, he plans to address problems associated with incarceration rates and recidivism in US prisons. Dills' has served as president of the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and coaches a youth soccer team, volunteers at the Oklahoma City Rescue Mission. 

Wesley Russell

A Social Work and Womens and Gender Studies double major, Russell plans to go to a Masters of Social Work before attending law school. Russell plans to then begin a career focused on LBTQ+ advocacy. As an undergraduate, Russell serves as an RA and is a Withrow Leadership Scholar. Russell has also been named a 2024 Point Scholarship finalist.
