OU Health Services administers immunizations for students, faculty, staff and dependents who are traveling outside of the United States. OUHS is a certified yellow fever clinic. If possible, you should schedule your appointment six months prior to your departure. An early appointment is advised because some immunizations require a series of injections over a period of time and/or take a few days or weeks to give you full immunity. Please bring your immunization records to your appointment. The nurse will then determine which immunizations are required and which immunizations are recommended. Recommended immunizations may vary depending on your age, current health, departure/arrival dates, and travel itinerary. OU Health Services follows the recommendations set by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and WHO (World Health Organization). The cost of the travel consultation may vary depending on the number of destinations and the immunizations needed.
There are several things we will need to know before recommending immunizations or medication:
The following adult immunizations are available by appointment. Cost may vary depending on the number and type of injections. Once the nurse has determined which immunizations are to be given, pricing information can be obtained from the OU Health Services Patient Services.
* The American College Health Association (ACHA) has recommended that college students consider pre-exposure vaccination to reduce their risk of meningoccal meningitis.
