The University of Oklahoma Libraries recently welcomed Carl Siegel as an Architecture Librarian and Archivist and Assistant Professor. In his role, Siegel supports students, faculty and staff across the Gibbs College of Architecture while also serving as archivist for the American School of Architecture Archives.
A Tulsa native and OU alumnus, Siegel studied architecture and architectural history at OU before earning a Master of Science in Information Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Most recently, Carl served as a project archivist at the Rudy Bruner Center for Urban Excellence at the University at Buffalo Libraries, where he worked with architectural and design records and supported research, teaching, and outreach missions.
Siegel added, “The primary driver for me to return to OU was to be back at a university that means something to me. OU (and the Gibbs College) has had a huge impact on my life and it's extremely gratifying to be able to meaningfully give back to that community professionally.”
His connection to the University of Oklahoma relates to his early career work in Renegades: Bruce Goff and the American School of Architecture, an exhibition and publication developed at OU. He contributed to this project first as a student and later as an adjunct.
In his new role, Siegel will work with Gibbs College students and faculty on research, instruction, and library resources while also helping provide access to materials within the American School of Architecture Archives.
Siegel will hold regular office hours in the Advising Suite, Gould Hall 165.
A project designed by Gibbs College of Architecture faculty member Austin Lightle has been selected for BuildFest 2026, a national art and architecture festival held at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in New York, on the historic grounds of the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival.
