Since 2003, he has partnered with at least fifteen municipal and county governments, four tribal governments, and multiple state and federal agencies to integrate real-world planning challenges directly into graduate-level coursework in Gibbs College.”
Leslie Spielman
“I am regularly struck by how positive and helpful she is, despite handling an increasing workload, as the Division of Architecture continues to grow. ... We would not be able to have transformed the architecture final reviews, created the studio student mentoring initiative, and many other new efforts without her knowledge of division/college operations and direct assistance.”
Phoebe Morales
“She is always willing to step in and assist whenever needed, and her responsiveness and commitment to resolving issues make a significant difference in supporting the daily operations of the college. Her attention to detail is truly commendable and ensures that financial processes are handled accurately and efficiently. ... Her patience, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond to support our needs are truly appreciated.”
Kofi Asare
“In less than two years at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Asare has built a thriving research program characterized by scholarly productivity, successful funding acquisition, meaningful industry partnerships, and genuine commitment to collaborative and interdisciplinary inquiry.”
Ted Reeds
“...I have truly enjoyed my time with Mr. Reeds as he always makes the experience of teaching not only fulfilling, but also engaging. His mentorship and guidance while teaching with him has helped me develop my voice as a new academic. ... I feel his ability to balance both practice and teaching transcends colleague mentorship and shows students and young faculty that it is possible to have alternatives careers.”
Julie Hornbeek
“Julie Hornbeek embodies the spirit of mentorship that this award seeks to recognize. Her comprehensive approach to student development, addressing academic needs, professional preparation, and personal growth—has made a profound impact on our Interior Design program. The relationships she builds with students are characterized by genuine care, professional insight, and unwavering support.”
Erin Nance
“I have witnessed Ms. Nance giving each and every student all of the time he or she may need whether its thirty minutes or two hours. All of them trust her and share openly with her. She compliments them and rejoices in their successes and is empathetic and supportive when a student is having issues with his or her class/classes or deciding whether to change their major or withdraw from classes.”
Matthew Reyes
“Dr. Reyes’ dedication to continuous improvement has made him an outstanding educator whether he is teaching university students or professionals in the construction industry. He uses the combination of his education, professional construction experience, and ongoing industry engagement to captivate students, providing depth and context that other teachers simply cannot.”
Jennifer Shirley
“Jennifer's teaching approach creates an environment where students feel supported to take risks, make mistakes, and grow. Her patience allows students to develop at their own pace while her high standards ensure they achieve excellence. Students know that Jennifer cares deeply about their learning and their future success, and this knowledge inspires them to rise to meet her expectations”
Yeji Yi
“Dr. Yi is considerate, organized, and thoughtful in both her words and actions. She listens carefully to the perspectives of others and fosters a collaborative atmosphere built on trust and mutual respect. ... Even in the fast-paced environment of studio instruction, she remains composed, respectful, and focused on creating a positive learning experience for students.”
