Gibbs College Welcomes Two New Staff Members

Please join the Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture in welcoming two new staff members, Patrice Greer, Assistant to the Deans, and Mark Ellis, Director of Administration and Finance!

Patrice L. Greer is the new Assistant to the Deans for the Gibbs College of Architecture. She has also served in numerous administrative positions throughout her time on campus of which her career path has been framed around Students Services and Business Operations. Some of Patrice’s campus achievements include hosting large conferences such as (NSSR) and chairing the BGSA as an Outreach Coordinator.

She enjoys contributing to students’ services via organizing campus wide events/ campaigns such as the #WeAre campaign housed by the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion, on all three OU campuses. She remains passionate about creating a more Diverse and Inclusive campus experience and enjoys helping underrepresented students and staff members establish a sense of belonging in the OU community.

Patrice is also an intern for the DEI office on the Norman Campus, as well as a graduate student through the College of Arts and Sciences (OU), where she is completing her Master of Human Relations in Spring (2021). She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

Mark Ellis is the new Director of Administration and Finance for Gibbs College. He works with administration to provide detailed information regarding all financial and administrative activities within the College. Mark believes that communication and understanding are vital in making sure the mission of the college is accomplished.

Mark has been employed with the University of Oklahoma since 2018, serving in the Dean’s Office at the College of Allied Health on the OU Health Sciences Center campus.

Mark holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Accounting and Administrative Studies. In his spare time, he and his family are avid bowlers and enjoy attending university activities on the Norman campus.

Combined CNS & ARCH Team Wins 3rd in National NAHB Competition

A team of Construction Science and Architecture students from the Gibbs College of Architecture made their mark on the national stage this week, earning third place out of 37 universities competing at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Student Competition, held during the International Builders' Show in Orlando, February 16-18, 2026.

Gibbs College Alumnus Elevated to AIA College of Fellows

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has elevated Gary Armbruster, FAIA, ALEP to its prestigious College of Fellows—AIA’s highest membership honor—for his exceptional work and sustained contributions to architecture and society. Fellowship recognizes architects who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession and made a significant impact at a national level. Members elevated to this distinction carry the FAIA designation after their name.

Spring 2026 Design Studio Exhibits Work at OU School of Visual Arts

Students from the Spring 2026 Graduate 4 Architecture Design Studio, led by Professor Amy Leveno, exhibited their work at the School of Visual Arts. The exhibition, titled Reimagining the OU School of Visual Arts, featured drawings, models, and animations developed throughout the semester's studio project. The show was hosted in The Spotlight, a creative gallery space located on the first floor of the Fred Jones Art Center, and ran from January 20–30, 2026.
