1. Grandmillenial
This is perhaps one of the most interesting and unique trends that has been seen this year. This style combines more traditional and vintage décor with a modern flair. People have reimagined how to incorporate pieces that would be found in “a grandparent’s home” by using floral wallpapers, antique furniture, and other vintage pieces to create a nostalgic feel in a modern space.

This style incorporates nature into spaces by including plants and greenery in several different ways. The idea of bringing the outside in makes people feel at ease in a space. It can be as simple as including plants on tables throughout the space or it can go further and include hanging greenery from ceilings.
6. Minimalism
This style has become more and more popular over the years. This style is unique yet traditional, while remaining sophisticated. It is one of the more sustainable styles as industrial style furniture is meant to last for a long time.
7. Open Spaces
This trend has been popular in both commercial and residential projects. People want more space in both their workplaces and their homes. Open space and more natural light creates a better flow throughout these spaces.
8. Outdoor Social Spaces
This trend has become increasingly popular throughout the course of the pandemic. Because it was unsafe to gather inside, people began to get more creative with how they could interact with people outside. As a result of both people being stuck at home as well as an increased desire to be outside, people saw spaces in their homes that they wanted changed, and backyard renovations spiked during the pandemic. Because restaurants were unable to host customers in indoor dining rooms, restaurants started to offer more outdoor seating during the pandemic and it still remains to be a popular trend.

Robert L. Wesley, a pioneering architect and beloved mentor, has died at age 88. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Wesley joined Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) in 1964 and became the firm's first Black partner in 1984.
