Associate professor of architecture Dave Boeck recently presented two projects during the Environmental Design Research Association’s annual conference. The conference, which was originally planned to take place in Tempe, Arizona, was relocated online due to travel concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Boeck presented, “The Pedagogy of Collaborative Creativity,” which focused on the collaborative class he taught with Jason Cytacki in Fall 2019, bringing art and architecture students together to experiment with music and design as Bruce Goff did with his students in the class Architecture. It was a resounding success.

His second presentation,” Using Post-Occupancy Evaluation to Analyze the Effective Use of Photovoice and Focus Groups in Developing a Successful Program for an International Service Learning Design Project,” looked at his work with students in Zambia from 2014-2016, which resulted in a school that was built in 2018.

Boeck commented that, “For a first time online conference, it went well and will probably be a prototype for future conferences.”

Thanks for representing Gibbs College, Prof. Boeck!
