This semester, we are pleased to share highlights from our award-winning Interior Design (ID) program at Gibbs College of Architecture (GCA). You can look forward to learning about events and opportunities, student and alumni highlights, research initiatives, and more.
Interior Design Program Overview
The mission of the ID program is to provide professional undergraduate and graduate education in interior design within a collaborative, multidisciplinary learning environment. The disciplinary perspectives share a common pedagogy with GCA’s other divisions, engaging high tech knowledge with high touch skills to prepare new graduates to solve global problems facing the interior design profession.
Job Opportunities
OU’s ID program ranks seventh nationally in the category of “Most Hired From.” Interior design graduates can choose from a variety of career paths upon graduation, including:
Excellent Professional Development
ID students have many opportunities to develop their professional skill sets and become successful alumni. Over the summer, ID students held internships around the country. Recently, Ryan McNitt interned with GFF in Dallas.
One recent ID alumnus, Khoi Hoang, is now a Senior Designer for Gensler. He says that studying at OU gave him a “competitive edge in the workplace.”

Events and Opportunities
Over the course of the fall 2019 semester, the ID division is excited to host many events on and off campus. The fall and spring career fairs are excellent networking opportunities for current students looking for future employment upon graduation, with about 40 companies present at each of these events.
On April 24, 2026, the Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture hosted its annual Graduate Student Showcase, a celebration of research, design innovation, and creative exploration across all graduate programs within the College.
The Gibbs College of Architecture celebrates fifth-year architecture student Haley Praytor, who has been recognized at the national level for her design work. In early March, Haley received a Graduate Division Award of Merit for her submission to the 2025 Metal Building Manufacturers Association student design competition.
Ronald Frantz Jr., emeritus professor, has been named a 2026 Mary Means Leadership Award recipient, the highest honor presented by Main Street America. The award was announced at the Main Street Now Conference in Tulsa, recognizing leaders who advance preservation-based economic development and community revitalization.
