2019 Outstanding Seniors Receive Awards

Students from the Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture’s (GCA) Architecture, Construction Science, Environmental Design, and Interior Design undergraduate programs were recently recognized for having the highest overall GPAs among their graduating classes. GCA Dean Hans E. Butzer was on hand to present them with their awards during the OU Campus Awards Program on Friday, April 5, 2019.

These outstanding students were recognized as follows:

  • Outstanding Academic Achievement in Architecture: Clay Dobbins
  • Outstanding Academic Achievement in Construction Science: Liliana Lopez
  • Outstanding Academic Achievement in Environmental Design: Daniel Woodruff
  • Outstanding Academic Achievement in Interior Design: Emma Smith

OU Student Journal Earns 2026 Douglas Haskell Award

Telesis, a journal produced by students in the University of Oklahoma Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture, has earned first place in the 2026 Douglas Haskell Award for Student Journals for its seventh volume, “Unfold.” This marks the fourth time the publication has earned recognition for excellence in student architectural journalism. It shares the honor with student journals from Columbia University, University of Michigan, and Cal Poly.

Gibbs College IQC Director Publishes New Book on Black Women Artists

Gibbs College of Architecture Institute for Quality Communities (IQC) Director and Division of Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Design (PLAD) faculty member Amber N. Wiley, Ph.D., recently published a new book, Collective Yearning: Black Women Artists from the Zimmerli Art Museum.
