LGBTQ+ Program Advisory Board

The LGBTQ+ Program Advisory Board, serves as the programming arm of the Gender + Equality Center’s LGBTQ+ Programs. Any student (undergraduate or graduate) is welcome to apply!

The goal of the LGBTQ+ Program Advisory Board is that all students feel safe, included, and empowered to succeed at the University of Oklahoma. We will reach this goal by maintaining an intersectional lens as we foster LGBTQ+ leadership, provide opportunities for community, and build awareness of LGBTQ+ issues on campus.

We are currently accepting applications for student leadership positions. You may apply now. This application closes on March 24th at 11:59 PM. Interviews will be held on March 30-31. Thank you for your interest in joining the LGBTQ+ Program Advisory Board.

Fall Signature Events

Meet & Greet

Early September 

The goal of LGBTQ+ Meet & Greet is to welcome new and returning queer & trans students to campus. Students will get a chance to meet each other as well as allies across campus.

LGBTQ+ History Month

All October

LGBTQ History Month (October) is a month-long observance of queer & trans history and the history of LGBTQ+ civil rights movement. This event coordinates social media campaigns about queer & trans history and at least one educational and social event to celebrate LGBTQ+ history.

Proudly Gleaming

Homecoming (Mid-October)

Proudly Gleaming is a part of the annual Homecoming festivities. As an official part of CAC’s Homecoming, this event will create a specific, intentional space to uplift and support our LGBTQ+ students, faculty, staff, and alumni as a recognized part of the OU family in one of our oldest campus traditions. The night will feature dancing, hors d'oeuvres, light refreshments, and more entertainment.

Queer Creative Week

Last week of February - Early March

Queer Creativity Week is a week-long celebration of LGBTQ+ artists, writers, and creators! Our events showcase the vibrancy and openness of the queer and trans community, providing a platform for artists to express themselves and share their stories. From art shows to writing workshops, there's something for everyone at Queer Creativity Week.

Queer Health Week

Mid March

Queer Health Week is a week-long event dedicated to promoting health and wellness in the LGBTQ+ community. Our events and activities aim to raise awareness about the unique health challenges faced by queer & trans individuals, and provide resources and support to help promote hollistic well-being. 

Crimson & Queens

April

Crimson and Queens is OU’s annual spring semester drag show. This event features performances from students and professional performers. Past headliners include Kennedy Davenport, Alyssa Edwards, Shangela, Utica Queen & Crystal Methyd.
