Letter from the President

READY. A quick Google search defines the word as an adjective – “in a suitable state for an activity, action, or situation; fully prepared.” (You just knew a Gaylord alum had to work in a word and definition in the president’s opening letter, right?)
Hi! I’m Sundee, and I am honored and READY to serve as your JayMac Alumni Association president. I am ready to welcome our students back to campus full time. I’m ready to tell the stories happening within our college. Our JayMac board is ready to support our students, their college goals and ultimately their career goals. And, I know our students are ready for fewer Zoom meetings and more in-person learning!
What a strange last few semesters it has been. But we are prepared to look toward the future, and the future is certainly bright at Gaylord. More than ever, our students need your support, and we are asking you to connect and to engage with us. In addition to our JayMac board, we have developed Connections Councils in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Oklahoma City and Tulsa markets. These are advisory boards comprised of people who want to assist and either be a connection or provide a connection for our students. This could be a resume review, an internship offer, a job offer upon graduation, or even a meeting over coffee to discuss career goals. I’d love to talk with you more about this and how you can become involved in a local council. Email me.
Also, hopefully you’ve been reading the alumni spotlights featuring Gaylord Alumni from all over the world. We’d love to feature you too and share what you’ve been doing since your time at OU. What an inspiration to our current students for them to see the potential career paths and exciting opportunities following life at Gaylord.
With more than 1,400 students expected at Gaylord this year, we are ready to have some fun and hope you’ll come along with us for the ride.
