Summer at Gaylord College is always a good time to embark on new projects and this summer has been no exception. The hallway outside Studio A, where we host OU Nightly at 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, now features our new Brag Board. This board features the names of journalism and creative media production alumni who are doing interesting and impressive work with their degrees.
Lindsey + Asp, Gaylord College’s integrated advertising and public relations agency, initiated the first Brag Board within the college. After seeing the reaction to that board from prospective parents, students, alumni and donors, and how effectively the board answers the question – “Will I be able to get a job after Gaylord?” – we decided to create something similar for our journalism and CMP grads.
It has been fascinating to learn about these alumni in creating the board. Utilizing tools like Linked-In, faculty and staff recommendations and personal contacts, I am proud and impressed with what our alumni are doing. Students’ reactions to the board have also been positive. Many have told me that they want to be on the board someday. So, there’s definitely room for expansion.
We will also be creating a Brag Board for Professional Writing alumni, so stay tuned. I believe these elements will enhance the stories we tell when various audiences tour the building. It’s all about having interesting stories to share.
We invite you to come see the Brag Boards within the college and if I can ever show them to you personally, please let me know.
We are anticipating another great year at Gaylord College with increased enrollment, new experiential learning opportunities and generous support from alumni and friends. We thank you and hope to see you soon.
