Letter from the President

Hooray for falling leaves, cooler weather and the upcoming holidays that are upon us. You can just feel the excitement around Gaylord as this semester is coming closer to an end. I’m thankful I have been able to meet and to engage with so many of our students this semester.

Your JayMac alumni board has been working hard behind the scenes on programs and projects that will further our mission and aid in providing the best experience possible for Gaylord students during their time at OU. Telling stories through the alumni spotlights, recruiting potential students with hand-delivered welcome boxes and reaching out to former students with the invitation to get involved with Gaylord are just a few of the ways we’ve been busy. I’ve also provided an update on the Connections Council that I mentioned in our last newsletter. Click here to read more about our efforts with this group.  

Now, I need to ask for a favor. We’re trying to increase our social media presence across all of our JayMac platforms. Social media is certainly a way for Gaylord graduates to stay in touch with each other and with what’s happening at Gaylord College. So, if you haven’t checked us out lately, please go take a look. Matt Marks does a great job of managing this for our group. But, we’d always welcome more content from you. Email him directly at Matthew.C.Marks-1@ou.edu with something you’d like to share.

In addition, our goal at JayMac is to invite our current students to actively participate on these platforms so they can connect with alums and get a glimpse of future careers and life after Gaylord. The goal is to bridge the gap now so there is an easy transition from student to active alumni.
