Spring 2017 Assessment Gala:
Practical Strategies for Assessing OU Virtues in the Classroom
Led by Dr. Felix Wao
Director of the Office of Academic Assessment
University of Oklahoma
10:30 AM - 2:00 PM | Bizzell Library, Room LL 118
Are you teaching a course that incorporates one or more of the nine OU virtues? Do you plan to apply for one of our Course Development Stipends to integrate the OU virtues into a new or redesigned course? Have you already taken part in our Assessment Workshops but would like a refresher?
We invite you to participate in our Spring 2018 Assessment Gala, led by Dr. Felix Wao, Director of OU’s Office of Academic Assessment and Leadership Team Member for the Institute for the Study of Human Flourishing. This is a free event, open to all faculty, staff and graduate students who teach at OU.
The Assessment Gala is a highly interactive, hands-on workshop that will address questions such as:
- How do you define what you expect your students to know and be able to do (in terms of OU virtues) upon completion of the course?
- How do you plan to address the virtue(s) you have selected for your course?
- How will you measure student progress as they learn what you have planned for them relative to the virtue(s)?
The workshop will focus on a variety of practical classroom assessment techniques that can be applied to new and redesigned courses that seek to integrate one or more of the nine OU Virtues. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with each other as they review student learning outcomes (SLOs) for their courses, determine appropriate teaching and learning activities intended to address the learning outcomes and, most importantly, develop appropriate assessment strategies to measure student progress.
