Congratulations to DMA composition student Josh Tomlinson! In addition to being a presenter at this summer's New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Josh's composition "Convergences" has been recorded and is due for release on the Ravellorecords label. Congratulations, Josh!
Zachary Daniels’ piece, Free Flute, was recorded by flutist Robin Meiksins as part of her “365 days of flute” project. This project, in which Meiksins collaborated extensively with living composers, is noteworthy in its use of online video as a performance medium. Dr. Kyle Vanderburg (DMA 2014 | Professor of Music) has accepted a position at North Dakota State University as Lecturer of Music. His duties include teaching music theory and music entrepreneurship. He will also advise on technology.
Joshua Tomlinson (DMA student) and Ioannis Andriotis (DMA Candidate) participated in the annual NYCEMF Conference in New York City.
Alumni Hayden Powell (B.M. 2016) received her certificate in film scoring from the USC Thornton School of Music.
Zachary Daniels (DMA student) premiered his work for double bass and piano, "Nocturne" as part of a benefit concert hosted by the University of Oklahoma School of Music for international students.
Zachary Daniels (DMA student) premiered his laptop quartet, "Quartet for Excelsior" as part of the New Century Improv! Ensemble's Spring Concert.
Joshua Tomlinson (DMA Student) and Dr. Konstantinos Karathanasis participated in the annual SEAMUS new music festival.
Ben Huddleston (B.M. student) won the 2017 Earth Day Orchestral Writing Competition. This contest, hosted by the Enid Symphony Orchestra, is about promoting new orchestral music with an “Earth-Bound” theme. Ben won with his Symphony in four movements based on the four elements: Earth, Wind, Fire, Water. Bravo, Ben! The premiere, and subsequent second performance, are to take place later this month.
Zachary Daniels (DMA student) had a great premiere (02/25/2017) and subsequent performance of "Winds of Time" (solo piano commission) as part of Hayden Iskander's (M.M. Piano/Composition) recital preview concert in Tulsa, OK , followed by the Degree Piano recital in Norman.
Chelsea Williamson (DMA student) presented a wonderful DMA Chamber Music Recital.
Zachary C. Daniels, Hayden Iskander, Angelos Mitsios, Joshua Tomlinson, and Jordan Wimmer were all participants in the first annual Oklahoma Student Composers Workshop. Well done!

Dr. Kyle Vanderburg (DMA 2014 | Professor of Music) had a premiere of his piece, “Joyride” at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND on Sunday.
Ioannis Andriotis, Zach Daniels, Angelos Mitsios, Joshua Tomlinson, and Dr. Karathanasis gave a great, well-received concert as part of the Second Fridays in the library series.
Chelsea Williamson has been invited to the Walden School for Summer 2017.

Hayden Iskander was named the MTNA South Central Division Winner, and will advance to the National Finals.
Ben Huddleston has been chosen as the recipient of the 2016-2017 Helene C. Lotinville Student Prize in the Fine Arts
This prize recognizes “single merit in the performances of undergraduates of Junior standing in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Oklahoma to encourage the pursuit of their chosen art form for its lifetime rewards and to match the performance of those who have gone before.”
Kenn McSperritt (DMA candidate) is giving a lecture on phonetic composition at USC Santa Barbara (sp?) tonight.
Leah Kennedy (B.M. 2016) accepted to NYU's Musical Theatre writing Masters program.
Hayden Powell (B.M. 2016) accepted to the film scoring program at USC's Thornton School of Music.
Chelsea Williamson (DMA student) had a performance at the Texas Flute Society Conference in Dallas on March 12th. Her trio, “Mountain Road,” was performed aptly and well-received. Be sure to congratulate her next time you see her!

Dr. Konstantinos Karathanasis was named the winner of the SIME 2016 Electroacoustic Music Competition. Dr. Kyle Vanderburg (DMA 2014 | Professor of Music) was a finalist.
