Undergraduate Auditions
Who needs to audition?
If you want to pursue a music major or music minor, you will need to audition for our School of Music faculty. (Commercial music minors do not need to audition.) If you are interested in a music education degree, your audition will also include an informal interview with our music education faculty.
How do I register for an audition?
Audition registrations are due two weeks prior to your chosen audition date. You will be notified of your audition/interview time, location, and warm up space approximately one week prior.
Audition Days
Audition Days are designed to provide prospective music majors/minors and their families with invaluable opportunities to meet current students and faculty members, to learn about our program and the majors we offer, and to visit campus and learn about the collegiate experience at OU.
What to Expect
When you arrive for one of our scheduled audition days, you can park for free in the Elm St. parking garage on floors two through five. You will enter Catlett Music Center through the front doors on Elm St. where you will find a sign-in table and receive your packet of information. A secure room will be provided for instrument storage during morning events.
Auditions and interviews take place in the afternoon and most run for 10-minutes (percussion and piano auditions are 20-minutes). Auditions are performed for the faculty in your primary area(s).
When do I find out the results of my audition?
You will receive an email within two-weeks of your audition date indicating the results of your audition. If you do not receive an email, please check your spam and junk folders. If you need further help, please contact our Undergraduate Staff Assistant at undergradmusic@ou.edu.

Music Scholarships
Music tuition waivers and scholarship awards are based on performance level, student potential, and the needs of the OU School of Music. Students who complete all necessary audition(s)/interview(s) before March 2 will receive priority consideration. Only music majors are eligible for music tuition waivers and scholarships.
If you are an Oklahoma resident and have been selected for an OkMEA All-State ensemble, you are automatically eligible to receive a $1,690 music tuition waiver for each year of participation, up to three years. Please note that All-State tuition waivers can only be stacked on top of OU academic tuition waivers up to the amount of in-state tuition ($5,070).
