This course is for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative method for completing an initial or renewal BLS course. The course includes CPR and AED skills for adult, child and infant.
Heartcode® BLS uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills.
After completing the online portion, students attend a structured BLS Hands-On Session with OU Fitness and Recreation. This session focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing.
Does not include CPR and AED training.
This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.
Heartsaver® First Aid includes both online, video-based eLearning as well as instructor-led skills testing that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings.
