Stephanie received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in Fitness and Exercise Management in 1998. Upon graduation in May of 1998 she was offered a position at OU as the Aquatics Coordinator. At the time she had little experience in the aquatics field. However it wasn’t long before she jumped in with both feet and figured out what aquatics was all about.
Stephanie oversees hiring and training of all aquatics staff, teaching certification classes, programming of the facility, daily upkeep of the facility, scheduling of employees and many other duties as assigned. Stephanie is a National Recreation and Parks Association Certified Aquatics Facility Operator (NRPA AFO), a Certified Pool Operator (CPO), an American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT), Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), Lifeguard, Widerness and Remote First Aid Instructor and American Red Cross and American Heart Association CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor.
When asked her favorite characteristic of Fitness and Recreation, Stephanie responded, "My favorite thing about working for OU in the Department of Fitness and Recreation is the daily contact with the students of the university knowing that maybe I can make a difference in someone’s life by my words of encouragement or maybe just as an ear to listen when they need to talk."
