To recognize University of Oklahoma faculty who have exhibited outstanding commitment to and support for the University’s international mission.
Award winners receive a one-time award of $2,000 and up to $2,000 in support of international travel related to the faculty member's teaching , research, or service activities.
Nominations are due to the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost by November 1, 2024, through the Faculty Awards and Honors Packets Dropbox.
All full-time (tenured, tenure-track, and ranked term) teaching faculty who have demonstrated outstanding international leadership and a commitment to the global mission of the University of Oklahoma are eligible for the Award for Outstanding Global Engagement. Nominees should have an established record of organizing, leading, and supporting international educational activities, such as (1) participating in study abroad programming for OU students, (2) engaging in international research that contributes to student learning, (3) enhancing global partnerships that involve student exposure to global issues, or (4) including students in overseas projects that serve communities in need.
Initiation
Nominations from faculty colleagues and departments must be submitted with the support of their college dean and should include the following materials:
1. A nomination cover letter describing the nominee’s commitment to and impact on the university’s international mission.
2. A minimum of 2 and maximum of 5 supporting letters from students, colleagues, and/or international partners.
3. Nominee’s curriculum vitae.
Submission
All materials listed above should be submitted as a single combined PDF from the appropriate Dean's Office to the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost via the Faculty Awards and Honors Packets Dropbox.
Review
Nominations will be reviewed by the Provost's Faculty Awards Committee. The Committee shall consider only the formal nominations. The Committee may seek additional data about the nominees from supplemental sources, as appropriate.
Selection
The Provost's Faculty Awards Committee will forward its recommendation to the Provost no later than February 1.
The Senior Vice President and Provost will review the nomination materials and recommendation of the committee and will make the final selection.
The final selection will be announced at the Norman Campus annual Faculty Awards ceremony in the spring.
