Courtney Henderson

Executive Director of Financial Aid
chenderson@ou.edu

The Student Financial Center brings together the services of Bursar, Financial Aid, Scholarships, and financial planning through the MoneyCoach program, to help eliminate barriers that students and families may experience when it comes to financing their educations. Courtney's role as Director of the Student Financial Center allows them to establish a workforce culture that values enabling student success. Our main goal is to assist college students and their families to create financial plans that will allow them to reach their own educational goals. It motivates Courtney to know that we can help ease confusion and overwhelming concerns as families attempt to navigate the financial processes of attending college. Families often have one shot at doing this right and we want to facilitate that for them successfully.

Courtney has served students for 16 years between OU and the Norman Public Schools Indian Education Program, working as a part of OU's Financial Aid Services for the past nine years. She previously served as a Financial Manager for the Indian Country Child Trauma Center and the OJJDP Tribal Youth Training and Technical Assistance Center.

Courtney holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Science from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She grew up in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and is a member of the Seneca-Cayuga Nation.

My best advice for a high school junior or senior preparing to apply to college:

I encourage all students to reach out to the Student Financial Center and get to know at least one member of our staff. When you have questions or don’t know what to do next, please don’t hesitate to ask us. We’ve seen and heard it all and can help to resolve concerns. You’re making life changing choices and financial aid is not intuitive. Let us help you!
