Erin M. Casey, PhD is an associate professor of early childhood education at the University of Oklahoma. Her research focuses upon: (a) opportunities for play and playful pedagogy for students and teachers throughout the lifespan and (b) the use of teaching tools (such as children’s literature) to promote social/emotional development, well-being, and equity in early childhood. Both of these focuses help contribute towards the development of democratic citizenship competencies in young children. She has presented her research both internationally and nationally.
Fun Fact: Dr. Casey loves to play her guitar and sing. She is always excited to play a game and be silly.
Encouraging Note: Take time to have moments of play in your own life. The joy you create through playing yourself will ripple though you to your students, fellow teachers, friends, and even strangers. You deserve to feel joy!
