Fall 2019: Seen Around the College
Summer 2019 in Uganda
Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education took part in a study abroad program in Uganda this summer. Students were able to teach and observe in classrooms of all level, as well as take part in the annual Conference on Grassroots Peacebuilding in Northern Uganda. Students went to the city of Gulu and met with women from the St. Monica’s Girls Tailoring Centre and nine different women’s organizations.
Early Childhood Education Poster Session
At the end of the semester, students in early childhood education display their work in a poster session in Collings Hall.
Carceral Studies Lectures
The Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education helped sponsor several lectures and workshops on the topic of carcerality this semester. Associate Professor Damien Sojoyner (UC Irvine) led a workshop with graduate students, followed by a lecture examining Black communal strategies against the carceral state.
The Carceral Studies Consortium and Women and Girls Across Gender Initiative also presented the lecture 1619-2019: Angela to Atatiana - Carcerality and the Lives of Black Women.
2019 Homecoming
The Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education student groups took part in the 2019 homecoming parade. Decorating a cart, the students walked in the parade handing out books to children along the route.
Integrated Arts Final Project
Students in Assistant Professor Heidi Torres' Integrated Arts Education class presented their final projects. Students were tasked with critiquing social norms through art.
