Research Scientist II
Gopi Danala is a Research Scientist II at the Data Institute for Societal Challenges (DISC). His research focuses on developing advanced data science and AI-driven decision-making systems that address complex real-world problems and improve societal well-being. He develops innovative modeling pipelines, decision-support systems, and interactive visual analytic environments that enhance clinical care, situational awareness, empower end-users, and support data-informed decision-making across diverse domains. His work spans healthcare, environmental monitoring, sustainable agriculture, and public safety, reflecting a broad commitment to interdisciplinary, impact-focused data science.
Dr. Danala earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, specializing in biomedical data science and AI-enabled decision support. His research has been supported by the NSF, NIH, DOE, and USDA, and published in leading national and international venues. He also supports data science education and research initiatives for undergraduate and graduate students at OU and partnering institutions.
