Jan Willem is senior partner in the Strategy practice of PwC Europe. Within that practice he is responsible for the Markets, Competition & Regulations teams in Europe. He is an econometrician and economist by training. He is also a professor of Economics at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, MD of Executive Masters Finance & Control for the Energy Industry on behalf of PwC and Shell (courses in Groningen, Houston, Doha, Moscow and Rio de Janeiro). Responsible for the PwC Energy Research Institute based in Groningen.
Jan Willem has over 30 years of experience in academic and contract research for governments, authorities, NGOs and corporates. Jan Willem is specialized in addressing economic issues and analyses of markets, as applicable in antitrust and economic regulation questions, state aid and societal cost benefit analyses, business case and business review appraisals, valuation and financial economic modeling, macro-economics and corporate finance. He has done work in various industries, including telecoms, healthcare, energy, chemicals and pharma, transport & logistics, and sports.
Jan Willem has conducted and lead several EC studies, including a large modeling assignment (HERMES), a study into tax options across Europe, a study into price levels and transparency for DG SANCO, and several studies for DG Comp.
