Dr. Shad Satterthwaite is Director of Executive Business Programs in Aerospace and Defense in the Gene Rainbolt Graduate School of Business at the University of Oklahoma. Since joining OU in 1998, he has served in a variety of academic and administrative leadership roles, including Associate Dean for OU Extended Campus and Assistant Vice President for Continuing Education Academic Programs. He also taught in the Department of Political Science, directed the University's Faculty-in-Residence Program, and served as Faculty Advisor to the OU Student Veterans Association.
A retired Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, Dr. Satterthwaite completed 33 years of military service, including two deployments to Afghanistan. His final military assignment was as a faculty instructor at the U.S. Army War College.
His teaching, research, and professional interests include leadership development, political science, public administration, media and voting behavior, executive education, and national security. He has been recognized as a Foundation for Defense of Democracies Academic Fellow, received the University of Oklahoma President's Distinguished Faculty Mentoring Program Outstanding Mentor Award, the OU Strategic Vertical Award, and was honored with the University of Oklahoma Student Association Outstanding Faculty Award.
Dr. Satterthwaite values faith, family, service, and lifelong learning. He enjoys spending time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family and remains committed to mentoring students, professionals, and future leaders.
