About Santhanam

Professor Radhika Santhanam, Ph.D., holds the Michael F. Price Chair in Management Information Systems and recently served as the Director of the MIS division. During her tenure, she implemented curricular changes at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, leading to strong placement, research productivity, and program recognition. Under her leadership, MIS programs received rankings by several agencies that included the top twenty undergraduate program ranking by U.S. News & World Report, among the top twenty in business analytics graduate programs, and faculty research productivity ranked among the top thirty globally. 

Santhanam’s research focuses on enhancing human-technology interactions. From a micro perspective, her research examines how user learning and training, coupled with system design, enhance employee competencies, support decision-making processes, and improve interactions with technology. From a macro perspective, her research finds ways by which organizations can help employees to collaboratively appropriate information technologies. Her recent work explores the use of gamification and Gen AI to enhance meaningful engagement and outcomes in interactions with information technologies. She has received external funding to support her research on facilitating employee learning of technologies, and her findings have been published in leading academic journals. Her research aligns with her teaching interests and impacts on her course design relating to analytics, systems design, and technology management. 

Santhanam has held senior editorial positions in various journals, including serving as a senior editor for the Journal of the Association for Information Systems and Information Systems Research. She was also a senior editor for a special issue on managing artificial intelligence at MIS Quarterly. She has served the Association for Information Systems in various roles, most recently as program co-chair for the International Conference on Information Systems. She is an Association for Information Systems Distinguished Member Cum Laude, and in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the information systems discipline in terms of research, teaching, and service, she was recently honored with the AIS Fellow award. 

Before joining the University of Oklahoma as a Price Endowed Chair in Management Information Systems, Santhanam was a Gatton Endowed Professor at the University of Kentucky and a faculty affiliate at the interdisciplinary Center for Visualization and Virtual Environments. She previously held faculty positions at the University of Cincinnati and Florida International University.
