Acclaimed actor Barry Corbin visited the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Oklahoma recently to share his time in Hollywood and beyond.
Known for his roles in Northern Exposure, Lonesome Dove, Killers of the Flower Moon, and countless others, Barry Corbin shared his experiences with 100 OLLI at OU members.
“I was recently told I’m the highest paid character actor in Hollywood. I just wish I knew where the money is”, said Barry Corbin said when introduced to the group.
Barry spent three hours at the Thurman J. White Forum Building on the OU Norman campus, telling stories, laughing with the members, answering questions, and taking many photos.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is a non-credit program for adults aged 50+. The program offers about 50 courses a semester.
While the event was part of an OLLI course this fall titled How the West Was “Not” One, the session with Barry Corbin was open to all current OLLI members.
The course’s professor, Dr. Betty Robbins said “He is truly an American treasure”. Betty was able to work with OLLI members Joe and Michelle Carter, who have known Barry Corbin for years, to invite Barry to the session.
