Completing your bachelor's degree can open doors to new career opportunities, personal growth and higher earning potential. It also provides a sense of personal achievement and fulfillment. Whether you're seeking to advance in your current career, pivot to a new field or fulfill a personal goal, finishing your bachelor's degree can be a transformative step.

If you're an Oklahoma resident considering returning to school to finish your degree online, now is the perfect time.

OU has received special funding to support adult students in completing their bachelor's degree. This initiative empowers Oklahoma residents to overcome financial barriers and achieve their academic goals.

Scholarship Details

The GEER Scholarship, a special one-time funding opportunity, can provide up to $15,000 in tuition assistance for eligible Oklahoma residents. Whether you're facing outstanding balances that prevent your re-enrollment or simply need financial help to continue your studies, this funding might be the key to unlocking your educational journey.

You can receive up to $3,300 in tuition assistance for Summer 2024 or up to $7,800 in tuition assistance for Fall 2024 for your first bachelor's degree.

In addition to assistance for tuition, fees and learning materials billed through the bursar, you may be eligible to receive an additional amount of up to $2,500 to cover bursar holds (prior debts owed to the institution) that prohibit re-enrollment.

To qualify for this scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a resident of Oklahoma
  • Be at least 20 years old
  • Have completed at least 24 hours of college credit
  • Not be currently enrolled at OU

The scholarship requires that you enroll in at least three credit hours per semester, maintain good academic standing and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The one-time funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so you'll want to enroll soon. To take full advantage of this opportunity, enroll by September. If you apply by the summer application deadline of May 27, you’ll be able to start classes in June.
