The University of Oklahoma through its Oklahoma Aerospace and Defense Innovation Institute has become an affiliated member of America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute and the nation’s leading public-private partnership for additive manufacturing technology and education.
As an affiliated member, the University of Oklahoma gains access to millions of dollars in annual funding granted by America Makes to academic institutions and industry partners who participate in additive manufacturing.
Additional benefits of this membership include the ability of OU faculty and staff to interact with and potentially collaborate with major U.S. defense contractors, such as Boeing and Lockheed Martin; attend the TRX Conference to exchange ideas and learn about upcoming projects; engage with and build relationships with members of the Air Force, Army and Navy; and collaborate with other universities across the United States who engage in similar research and development projects.
Founded in 2012 as the Department of Defense’s national manufacturing innovation institute for advanced manufacturing, America Makes is managed by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining.
