Kash Barker, Ph.D., the John A. Myers Professor in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Gallogly College of Engineering at the University of Oklahoma, has been named the associate editor for the journal Military Operations Research, a publication of the Military Operations Research Society. This appointment aligns with his expanding defense-related research in partnership with OU’s Oklahoma Aerospace and Defense Innovation Institute.
Barker has recently been awarded funding for two defense-related research projects. He, along with principal investigator Andrés González, Ph.D., assistant professor in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Gallogly College of Engineering, received a projected $3.6 million grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency for their project, “Novel Analytical and Visual Analytics Components for Resilient Supply-Demand Networks.”
Alongside principal investigator David Ebert, Ph.D., a Gallogly Chair Professor of electrical and computer engineering in the Gallogly College of Engineering and director of the Data Institute for Societal Challenges, Barker is part of a $624,000 project from the Department of Air Force, 448th Supply Chain Management Wing, titled, “The Internet-of-Supplier (IoS) Engine for Supply Chain Risk Management.”
“Operations research is a field that got its start in defense applications, so it’s nice that someone affiliated with OADII has a connection to this kind of journal,” Barker said.
