NORMAN, Okla. — The OU Food Pantry won the annual Red River Food Fight, collecting 31,815.9 pounds of shelf-stable food and drinks to top UT Outpost’s 22,567 pounds. OU has won the competition four years in a row.

The friendly competition ran Sept. 1 through Oct. 2, pitting the OU Food Pantry against UT Outpost, the University of Texas at Austin’s student food pantry, in the weeks leading up to the Red River Rivalry game.

“Sooner Nation did it once again! We appreciate everyone who donated to our annual Red River Food Fight and helping us secure the win for the 4th year in a row,” said Matt Marks, assistant director and advisor of the OU Food Pantry. “We could not do this without our generous supporters so thank you for making the difference.”

The OU Food Pantry will celebrate its 10th anniversary next March. It typically serves more than 400 clients each week and has served more than 2,000 clients in the last month. Founded by students, the OU Food Pantry is a free resource available to all OU students, faculty and staff and offers both boxed and canned goods, fresh produce, toiletries, clothing, books and other items.
