The Honors College considers applications from incoming freshmen as well as from both transfer students and current OU students. To be eligible, current OU and transfer students must have at least 15 credits, but no more than 60 credits of graded college-level coursework taken after completion of high school with at least a 3.4 GPA. The credit hour maximum for transfer and current students is to provide accepted students the opportunity to successfully complete Honors College requirements in time for graduation. Acceptance is based on a combination of demonstrated academic success and the ability to write an original, focused, and well-organized, college-appropriate essay. The Honors College reviews applications twice per year. The fall application window is open from October 1-December 1 and the spring application window is open from January 1-April 1. Applications may require up to 4 weeks for processing from the time of submission. Students who are not accepted, but who receive a notice of deferral, may be eligible to apply again if they meet the GPA and credit hour requirements.
*The Medical Humanities Scholars and Pre-Law Scholars Programs do not consider test-optional applications as ACT/SAT test scores are required for program eligibility.
