The Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture congratulates Dr. Tammy McCuen, Robert E. Busch Professor of Construction Science, on beginning her term as president of the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC), an international organization dedicated to advancing construction education through teaching, research and service. ASC membership includes 190 construction programs and more than 1,000 construction educators worldwide.
The organization offers a variety of programs and services designed to help members serve their institutions, students and industry partners, including an annual conference, student competitions and publication of The International Journal of Construction Education and Research.
Dr. Tamera McCuen is a nationally recognized leader in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its integration into higher education. A pioneer in the field, she began her career testing early BIM software at a beta site in 1992 and later brought that expertise into academia, where she has helped shape BIM standards and processes across the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. Her collaborative work with the National Institute of Building Sciences and the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering has advanced the development of interoperable frameworks and cost-estimating protocols that support BIM adoption across disciplines.
Dr. McCuen has authored more than 70 articles and technical reports, and her expertise is regularly sought at national and international conferences. She has led over 25 professional workshops and continuing education seminars for AECO practitioners and academic audiences. In recognition of her impact, she received the Building Information Modeling Award for Curriculum Development from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Technology in Architecture Practice and has twice been honored by AACE for her leadership in BIM technical standards and information exchange.
Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture congratulates Thinh "Henry" Duong, a master's student in the Division of Interior Design, for earning first place in the 2026 Robert Bruce Thompson Annual Student Light Fixture Design Competition.
Gibbs College of Architecture Institute for Quality Communities (IQC) Director and Division of Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Design (PLAD) faculty member Amber N. Wiley, Ph.D., recently published a new book, Collective Yearning: Black Women Artists from the Zimmerli Art Museum.
In May, students from the Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture's Architecture, Environmental Design, and Interior Design programs participated in an intensive five-day Studio in Residence at Taliesin West, the iconic winter home and desert laboratory of Frank Lloyd Wright.
