Gibbs College of Architecture Hall of Fame (GCA HOF) recognizes a select number of high-character individuals who have made a significant and lasting positive impact over time to Gibbs College (GCA), its students, staff, faculty, alumni, and/or to communities across the globe. The impact may have been, or continues to be, in the form of service and mentorship, sustained professional excellence, and/or advancement and financial support. Kenneth Franklin Robson to be Inducted into Gibbs Hall of Fame is part of the 2024 Hall of Fame class.

The Kenneth R. Robson Memorial Construction Science Scholarship Fund (#43348) provides financial assistance to students enrolled in the Construction Science program at Gibbs College. Student recipients will receive the Kenneth R. Robson Memorial Construction Science Scholarship.
Kenneth Franklin Robson was born in La Grange, Texas in 1955 to Katherine June Robson and William ‘Bill’ Robson, III. He grew up in Waco, Texas, where his formative years laid the foundation for his future pursuits. Ken’s academic journey led him to Texas A&M University, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Design and Construction Management. These achievements propelled him into the construction industry, with career stints in Houston, Phoenix, and Santa Fe.
While successful in the industry, Ken discovered a profound passion for teaching, driven by his desire to improve the field of construction and spend more time with his family. This new direction took him to Colorado State University, where he earned a master’s degree in Construction Education. Armed with advanced knowledge and a fresh perspective, Ken embarked on a distinguished teaching career.
Ken began his teaching career at Arizona State University. In 1994, he moved to the University of Oklahoma, where he would leave a lasting legacy. Over his 22-year tenure at the Haskell and Irene Lemon Division of Construction Science in the OU Gibbs College of Architecture, Ken served as Division Director for 19 years. His leadership and innovative contributions in construction science were recognized nationally and internationally. He was honored with several prestigious awards, including the 2005 ASC Outstanding Educator, the 2010 AGC Outstanding Educator, and the ASC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ken Robson was known for his unique and adventurous spirit, remarkable sense of humor, and a deep-seated commitment to serving others. His dedication to volunteer work was evident in his involvement with the Cleveland County Christmas Store, a project he held dear. Ken’s personal life was marked by a love for travel, continuous learning, and cherished moments with his family. He found simple joys in watching “The Price is Right” with his favorite cat napping in his lap.
Ken’s passing on January 8th, 2022, after a valiant seven-year battle with a traumatic brain injury, was a significant loss to all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Leigh, of Norman, OK; daughter Shana Robson Conner and her husband Toby of Dallas, TX; son Thomas Robson of Norman; his brother William ‘Willy’ Robson and his wife Sherri; and his two adored granddaughters, Brenleigh and Mavey Conner. Ken Robson’s life was a testament to his enduring impact as an educator, a professional, and a family man, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, humor, and service.
A team of Construction Science and Architecture students from the Gibbs College of Architecture made their mark on the national stage this week, earning third place out of 37 universities competing at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Student Competition, held during the International Builders' Show in Orlando, February 16-18, 2026.
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has elevated Gary Armbruster, FAIA, ALEP to its prestigious College of Fellows—AIA’s highest membership honor—for his exceptional work and sustained contributions to architecture and society. Fellowship recognizes architects who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession and made a significant impact at a national level. Members elevated to this distinction carry the FAIA designation after their name.
Students from the Spring 2026 Graduate 4 Architecture Design Studio, led by Professor Amy Leveno, exhibited their work at the School of Visual Arts. The exhibition, titled Reimagining the OU School of Visual Arts, featured drawings, models, and animations developed throughout the semester's studio project. The show was hosted in The Spotlight, a creative gallery space located on the first floor of the Fred Jones Art Center, and ran from January 20–30, 2026.
