Regional and City Planning Student, Daniil Solovev was one of several members of the OU community who were recently interviewed by the OU Daily about the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the ongoing crisis.
Daniil is a Russian graduate student in the RCPL program. He reported to the OU Daily that his parents had participated in protests in St. Petersburg against the invasion of Ukraine on February 25th. While his family was able to escape the imprisonment other protestors faced, he shared that they are “frightened, stunned and stressed about Russian economics shrinking due to ‘an unwanted war.’”
He explained, “It all appeared unreal to me, like I was in a very wicked nightmare. If someone said ten years ago that there is going to be a war between Russia and Ukraine, this person would be called crazy, but now, it is a horrendous truth.”
