First-year Architecture students enrolled in Design 1 recently took a walking tour of Norman as part of their research into human experiences in urban spaces.
The students, led by instructor Donovan Linsey, visited the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, Campus Corner, The Well, the Norman Depot, Herb Greene’s exhibit at MAINSITE Contemporary Art, the Norman Municipal Complex, Andrews Park, the Blake Baldwin Skatepark, and the Norman Central Library. By visiting these places, the students could begin to understand how design of urban spaces influences the experience of people who visit those spaces.
The students used the knowledge they gained in this tour exercise to begin thinking about and designing public spaces in their Invisible Cities final projects that they will present at the end of the semester.
