The Architecture Library in Gould Hall is hosting a reception for the Hispanic Heritage Month Art Showcase, presented by the Center for Social Justice and Sigma Lambda Beta. It’s open and free for all and will be featured until Oct. 20th.
Sigma Lambda Beta started hosting the Hispanic Heritage Month Art Showcase as a space to raise awareness for the talented individuals in Oklahoma. This is the second year co-hosting the showcase with OU Libraries.
“With art being so influential to Latin American history, culture and society, we felt the need for an event of this nature,” said German Gallardo, President of Sigma Lambda Beta.
“This event is at zero cost to the artist,” said Gallardo. “It also brings the art to the students of OU and surrounding community. Additionally, Sigma Lambda Beta provides all materials for the showcase. Our members also have direct connections and access to networks with many of the artists participating. This allows us to have overwhelming success in collecting pieces.”
“Sigma Lambda Beta’s biggest priority is ensuring the artists get the recognition they deserve in a location that will be accepting and appreciative of them,” said Gallardo.
