First-Year Architecture Students Travel to Tulsa

Architecture students toured several locations in Tulsa as part of their first-year tour. This is the second time this event has been held.

The students were introduced to the activities of the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture (TFA), visited Cyntergy, a thriving architecture firm environment, and used Bruce Goff’s and Adah Robinson’s masterpiece at the Boston Avenue Methodist Church to advance their first-year foundation studies, according to first-year studio coordinator Sam Callahan.

In addition, alumnus Ted Reeds, AIA, hosted the freshman class for lunch at the riverside Blue Rose restaurant. Reeds is a native Tulsan who was proud to help introduce students to the local built environment.

“As a founding member of the TFA, hosting these kind of events is what we always dreamed,” said Reeds. “Getting to feed them at the Blue Rose on the Arkansas River, a building that I designed, only made the day better.”

“Buildings are nothing without you. Your participation with them gives them a soul. Without this soul they are static, lifeless. So, when you visit my city, or any city for that matter, participate with it, dance with it, respect it and most importantly, love it.”
