Ken Robson, an emeritus professor of construction science, has received the 2019 Associated Schools of Construction Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award is given annually to individual(s) who have made significant lifelong contributions to construction education. It recognizes the exemplary efforts of individuals who have worked throughout their career to develop and advance construction education through sharing of ideas/ knowledge, inspiration, guidance and/or the promotion of excellence in curricula, teaching, research and service.
“Ken believes strongly in construction education and thought of it as a dynamic system,” said Ben Farrow, associate dean for academic affairs and international programs at Auburn University.
Farrow was just one among numerous current and former colleagues and students that have praised Robson for the award.
“Ken did small things with great love for construction education, and those small things have impacted construction education in a lot of different ways, and will continue to do so in the years ahead,” Farrow said.
“I can think of no better recipient for this year’s lifetime achievement award than Ken Robson.”

The Gibbs College of Architecture celebrates fifth-year architecture student Haley Praytor, who has been recognized at the national level for her design work. In early March, Haley received a Graduate Division Award of Merit for her submission to the 2025 Metal Building Manufacturers Association student design competition.
Ronald Frantz Jr., emeritus professor, has been named a 2026 Mary Means Leadership Award recipient, the highest honor presented by Main Street America. The award was announced at the Main Street Now Conference in Tulsa, recognizing leaders who advance preservation-based economic development and community revitalization.
The Gibbs Design in Action Awards (GDAA) program, led by Dr. Wanda Liebermann, has announced its 2026–2027 funded student projects. The initiative supports design and research work that addresses social, cultural, and economic issues in the built environment through collaboration with faculty and community partners.
