This past weekend, a group of College of Architecture faculty and students, led by Construction Science director Prof. Ben Bigelow, traveled to Houston a second time to volunteer with Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts.
OU Environmental Design student, Emily Gaston, reflected on the experience, “I just wanted to say that when we arrived in the Houston area, I didn’t expect to see so many strong individuals. I expected the amount of damage and all the devastation in people’s lives, but I didn’t expect everyone to be helping one another, feeding one another, and striving forward despite having absolutely nothing.”
Many thanks are due to these selfless members of the OU family, as well as to the sponsors who made this trip possible, including: The Builders Association of South Central Oklahoma; Central Oklahoma Builders Association; Oklahoma State Home Builders Association; Windstone Construction; Accent Glass; McClain Bank; Haworth Homes; CA McCarthy Construction; DAvinci Homes; Custom Builders of Oklahoma; Trinity Hearth & Homes; Patrick O’Dooley; and Westpoint Homes.
