After graduating in May with a Master of Science in Architectural Urban Studies (OU-Tulsa), Paulina Baeza went to work as a transportation planner for the Indian Nations Council of Governments (INCOG), but that was not the end of the work she began as a student in CoA’s Urban Design Studio. As a student, Baeza’s professional project, entitled “International Plaza,” focused on transforming underutilized land and surface parking into a square with a public market and food truck court in East Tulsa.

Recently, working in collaboration with the Greater Tulsa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and INCOG, she applied for and was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Tulsa Young Professionals (TYPros) to make her International Plaza concept a reality. The grant will be used to launch the market on a parking lot adjacent to Plaza Santa Cecilia Hispanic Market beginning in March 2018, with the goals of attracting visitors, promoting the ethnic diversity of East Tulsa, and providing space for new start-up businesses.
